OXFORD x HSUHK x Beihang University : Postgraduate Summer School 2026

Postgraduate Summer School 2026:
In Collaboration with Hertford College, University of Oxford

Introduction

The Oxford x HSUHK x Beihang University: Postgraduate Summer School 2026 is a flagship initiative of the Graduate School (GS) at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) — an international learning journey designed for postgraduate students to enhance their academic capabilities, global outlook and cross-cultural competencies.

The programme begins with a three-day Hong Kong Session at HSUHK (24–26 June 2026), followed by an intensive residential UK Session hosted by Hertford College, University of Oxford, from 29 June 2026 to 5 July 2026, bringing together outstanding students from HSUHK and Beihang University in a historic collegiate setting.

During the Hong Kong Session, students will participate in workshops on academic communication, intercultural awareness and public speaking, alongside curated cultural visits and cohort-building activities that prepare them academically, culturally and socially for overseas study. The subsequent UK Session immerses participants in the Oxford environment through research methodology workshops, sessions on management science (including decision analysis, leadership and strategy), AI ethics, UK social issues and cross-cultural communication, complemented by tours and cultural activities in Oxford and London. To ensure that students can fully enjoy and benefit from this enriching learning experience, HSUHK will award scholarships to nominated students to cover the programme fees for both sessions. Participation in both sessions is required for completion of the programme.

What To Expect

Access to Leading Academics and Faculty
The Summer School is co-designed and delivered by faculty from The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong, Hertford College at the University of Oxford, and Beihang University. Students receive direct access to academics who are active researchers and practitioners in their fields — including management science, AI ethics, cross-cultural communication and UK social policy — bringing cutting-edge perspectives into every session.

Engaging and Relevant Academic Content
The programme addresses real-world challenges by focusing on knowledge and skills that are genuinely in demand for postgraduate learners and future leaders. From decision analysis and leadership strategy to AI ethics and research methodology, every academic session is designed to enrich students' thinking and directly strengthen their postgraduate studies and professional capabilities.

Immersive Cross-cultural Experience
From Hong Kong to Oxford, the Summer School places students in genuinely intercultural learning environments at every stage. Students will engage with peers from different institutional, linguistic and national backgrounds — building the communication skills, cultural intelligence and global confidence that define well-rounded postgraduate professionals.

A Balance of Theory and Practice
A defining feature of this programme is its integration of academic rigour with practical application. Seminars and workshops are complemented by group work, research reflections, site visits and cultural activities — enabling students to connect theoretical frameworks to real social, institutional and organisational contexts.

Residential College Experience at Oxford
Participants are accommodated at Hertford College, one of Oxford's historic colleges, and experience first-hand the unique rhythms of collegiate university life — including formal hall dining, college tours, and the stimulating intellectual atmosphere of one of the world's most respected academic institutions.
