Full Moon. Joyful Connections – Graduate School Organised Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration for Postgraduate Students

The Mid-Autumn Festival, a cherished celebration in Chinese culture, symbolizes family reunions and togetherness with its full moon. The newly established Graduate School hosted a vibrant Mid-Autumn Festival carnival entitled 'Full Moon. Joyful Connections' on 18th September 2024 to celebrate the Moon Festival with postgraduate students, faculty members, volunteers and the community on 18th September 2024. This Carnival brought together over 120 participants, including postgraduate students, faculty members, volunteers, and community members, in the College Hall of Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK). The carnival was organized in collaboration with the Key Link Family Centre.

On the evening of September 18th, the college hall came alive with the sounds of live music, the laughter of booth games, and an infectious sense of joy. The vibrant atmosphere was enhanced by our partner NGO, the Key Link Family Centre, which organized a diverse array of activities, including DIY Mid-Autumn lantern-making, hometown delicacies, hand-painting, board games, hiking club sign-ups, and personality tests. Postgraduate students from various programs eagerly dove into the festivities, fully embracing the lively spirit of the event.

During the official welcome ceremony, Professor MOK Ka-ho, Provost and Vice-President (Academic and Research) & Dean of the Graduate School, along with Professor CHOY Siu-kai, Associate Dean of the Graduate School, and Professor Kenneth KWONG, Programme Director of MSc-EM Programme, gathered to celebrate the Carnival. Professor Mok warmly welcomed all postgraduate students and delivered an inspirational speech centered on the values of "Determination", "Love", "Unity", "Perseverance", and "Vision". In a heartfelt metaphor, he likened the moon to the university's unwavering support and affection for students, stating, "The moon represents my heart", capturing the University's commitment to nurturing students' holistic development and academic journeys.

The Graduate School at HSUHK is dedicated to enhancing student learning and fostering a culture of service and community engagement. In alignment with the university's educational model of "Liberal & Professional", the Graduate School has launched the HIGH Programme, which stands for "Holistic Development", "Immersive Experience", "Global Perspectives", and "High Engagement". This initiative will offer a series of enriching activities in partnership with local communities.
