Graduate School's Participation at Hong Kong Committee on Children's Rights Closing Conference

On October 9th, the Graduate School of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) proudly participated in the Closing Conference titled "Have we taken all appropriate measures to implement the Convention on the Rights of the Child in HK?" , organized by the Hong Kong Committee on Children's Rights at the University of Hong Kong. This event marked the 8th Conference of the CRC Conference Series, aimed at reviewing Hong Kong's progress in protecting children and advancing their rights.

The conference brought together esteemed guest speakers who evaluated Hong Kong's performance in implementing the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) through the lenses of laws, policies, services, and promotional strategies. Notable speakers included Mr. Azan Aziz MARWAH, Chairperson of the Hong Kong Committee on Children's Rights, who addressed legal frameworks; Professor Sandra TSANG, JP, Hon. Associate Professor at The University of Hong Kong, who discussed policy implications; and Ms. CHENG Po Yan, Officer of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, who provided insights into service delivery.

In a remarkable move towards inclusivity, the conference also invited child participants from organizations such as Kids' Dream, SKH Tin Shui Wai Ling Oi Primary School, and Shatin Pui Ying College. Their voices were integral to the discussion, allowing for a comprehensive evaluation of Hong Kong's effectiveness in promoting children's rights.

At HSUHK, we hold a strong conviction to nurture students into caring professionals with a global vision. Our commitment to addressing local and regional issues aligns seamlessly with the promotion of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Engaging with various non-governmental organizations and the local community is a core value of the Graduate School.

Our participation in this meaningful event not only underscores our dedication to child wellness but also opens avenues for potential collaboration with NGOs focused on human betterment. By working together, we can enhance our efforts to create a more equitable society for children and contribute to the broader goals of sustainable development.

Together, we can make a difference in the lives of children and enhance their overall wellness in Hong Kong and beyond.
