On 23 November 2024, Professor Joshua Mok, Provost and Vice President (Academic and Research) and Dean of Graduate School of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK), delivered a keynote speech at the Third International Conference on University Transformation and Development held at Xiamen University, China. The conference attracted over 200 participants and speakers from diverse regions, including mainland China, Hong Kong, Japan, the USA, Canada, and Spain, highlighting the global interest in the evolving landscape of higher education.
In his keynote address, Professor Mok shared the innovative integration of artificial intelligence and technology in education at HSUHK. He emphasised the critical role these advancements play in enhancing both international and regional learning experiences for students. His insights resonated with the audience, as he illustrated how technology can bridge educational gaps and prepare students for a rapidly changing world.
In addition to his keynote, Professor Mok delivered a special talk at the Graduate Institute of Taiwan Studies, where he discussed Hong Kong"s quest for becoming an international higher education hub in Asia. His presentation was met with enthusiasm, reflecting the shared vision among educators and policymakers for the future of education in the region.
During his visit, Professor Mok was appointed as Advisor of the Ministry of Education's Humanities and Social Sciences Strategic Research Area at Xiamen University Higher Education Research and Development Centre. Through taking this role, Professor Mok collaborates with other leading scholars to advise to the Chinese government on matters related to higher education development.
Through his dedicated efforts and commitment, Professor Mok is contributing to the evolving landscape of higher education. He advocates for an approach that embraces technology and fosters international collaboration. His work aims to support a more interconnected and dynamic educational environment in the region.
