The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) proudly sponsored the Centre for Global Higher Education (CGHE) Annual Conference 2025, as a core institutional partner of CGHE based at the University of Oxford. The conference, held successfully from 3–4 April 2025 at the University of Oxford, attracted around 200 participants joining both onsite and online.
President Simon Ho and Professor Ka Ho Mok, Provost of HSUHK, attended the conference in person, underscoring the university's commitment to advancing higher education and developing Hong Kong into an international post-secondary education hub. During the reception, President Ho delivered a presentation highlighting HSUHK's unique "Liberal + Professional" education model, complemented by a video showcasing the university's innovative approach to teaching and learning.
As part of the conference, Professor Mok, supported by the Asia Pacific Higher Education Research Partnership (APHERP), organized a distinguished panel titled “Geopolitics and Higher Education in East Asia: International Student Mobility, Research Collaboration, and University Governance.” The panel featured esteemed speakers from the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Mainland China, Taiwan region, Japan, and South Korea, who shared insights on how geopolitics is shaping the development of higher education and international collaboration in the region. The session was met with enthusiastic engagement from participants.
Looking ahead, HSUHK and CGHE are set to deepen their collaboration by co-organising an Autumn School in September 2025. This initiative aims to nurture early-career researchers and further strengthen international partnerships in higher education. Through its active participation in global academic initiatives such as the CGHE Annual Conference, HSUHK continues to demonstrate its dedication to fostering meaningful dialogue and collaboration in the higher education sector worldwide.
