Professor Mok Ka-ho, Provost and Vice-President (Academic and Research) of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK), was invited by The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) to deliver a keynote speech at the 1st Annual Conference of the Centre for Higher Education Leadership and Policy Studies (CHELPS).
Held at the North Point Study Centre of EdUHK, the conference centered on the theme "Leadership in Global Higher Education", drawing over 100 speakers and participants from more than 10 countries and regions across Asia and beyond.
Under the theme "Transformative Power of Higher Education", Professor Mok shared insights from his experience in institutional transformation and leadership development, particularly in navigating the evolving socio-economic and political-economic challenges facing higher education. Having held leadership roles at universities in Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, and Mainland China, he reflected on strategies for managing educational change and the essential qualities of effective academic leadership.
Central to his keynote was the emphasis on visionary leadership—highlighting the need for strong conviction, collaborative teamwork, and a shared commitment to driving positive change in student learning, teaching excellence, research innovation, and broader institutional engagement.
