Building on the success of October's Millions Talent Development Initiative, this new session represents a strategic advancement in professional development. While previous training focused on classroom management and teaching practice, this programme elevates its scope to "studio leadership," aiming to cultivate educational leaders who can drive regional teacher development.
Professor Mok Ka-ho, Provost and Vice-President (Academic and Research) of HSUHK, opened the ceremony by highlighting the crucial role of Guangdong-Hong Kong collaboration in enhancing education quality across the Greater Bay Area (GBA). Dr Huang Daoming, vice dean of the College of Teacher Education at South China Normal University, expressing appreciation for HSUHK's meticulous preparations and sharing high expectations for the programme's outcomes. The participants' perspective was represented by Wang Jianxin from Dongguan Experimental High School, who shared his learning objectives and commitment to making the most of this professional opportunity.
The first day featured a comprehensive lecture by veteran educator Dr. Stanley Wong Shiu-hung on Hong Kong's basic education system, policies, and teacher-student development. The session provided systematic insights into the characteristics and evolution of Hong Kong's educational landscape. This was followed by a dynamic "Guangdong-Hong Kong Education Policy Dialogue" forum, where educators engaged in vibrant exchanges of perspectives and experiences.
The programme is structured around four core principles: leadership, integration, innovation, and impact. Over the coming days, participants will explore diverse topics including AI in education, curriculum reform, system assessment, and research leadership through specialized lectures and workshops. The schedule also includes immersive school visits, where participants will observe actual classrooms and engage in dialogues with school management teams to understand Hong Kong's practical approaches to interdisciplinary curriculum, school-based development, whole-person education, and teacher professional growth.
Through its systematic design and immersive experiences, the programme aims to empower participants to transform Hong Kong's advanced educational concepts and successful practices into adaptable strategies and research outcomes for their local contexts. This transformation is expected to enhance their role as demonstrative, influential leaders in the coordinated educational development of the GBA.
