HSUHK hosts Orientation for Postgraduate Students (2025–26 January Intake)

Graduate School of HSUHK hosted the “Orientation for Postgraduate Students (2025–26 January Intake)” on 8 January 2026 at the Auditorium (D201), Yuen Campus of HSUHK, to warmly welcome over 230 newly admitted taught postgraduate students joining in the January 2026. Themed “Leading the Future, Beyond Imagination”, the event underscored the University’s confidence in postgraduate students as future leaders and change-makers.

Inspiring Start to the Journey

In the welcome remarks, Professor Joshua Mok, Provost and Vice President (Academic and Research) and Dean of the Graduate School, welcomed the incoming cohort and encouraged students to embrace innovation, broaden their horizons, and engage actively  in HSUHK’s vibrant learning community. He highlighted that the Orientation theme “Leading the Future, Beyond Imagination” reflects the University’s commitment to nurturing caring professionals with a global perspective, strong values, and a clear sense of purpose.​

Programme Highlights

The programme featured a keynote sharing session titled “Navigating Your Postgraduate Journey at HSUHK,” led by Professor CHOY Siu-kai, Associate Dean of the Graduate School, alongside Ms Sirena FANG, an alumna of the Master of Business Management programme, and Ms Althy CHENG, a current student in the Master of Arts in Strategic Communication programme. Together, they offered practical insights into academic planning, personal growth, and career development.

Senior Management from various student's support services delivered useful orientation and induction talks, including:

Souvenir Presentation

To honour their valuable contribution, the University presented souvenirs to its external partners in gratitude for their ongoing commitment to enriching the student experience.

Appreciation was extended to:

  • Mr Vangary Li, Senior Inspector, New Territories South Regional Crime Prevention Office of the Hong Kong Police Force
  • Ms Phoebe Chow, Head of Corporate Communications, Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Date

Promoting Safety and Data Protection

To strengthen students’ awareness of personal and online safety, the Orientation also featured guest sharing by external speakers. Mr Vangary Li, Senior Inspector of Police from the New Territories South Regional Crime Prevention Office of the Hong Kong Police Force, shared anti-scam information and practical tips on identifying and avoiding deception, while Ms Phoebe Chow, Head of Corporate Communications from the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data, delivered a session titled “Beware of Scam – Protect Your Personal Data” to remind students to safeguard their digital footprint.

Interactive Booth Session and Networking

Another highlight of the Orientation was the Interactive Booth Session held before and after the welcoming ceremony and induction programme, bringing together internal units and external partners in one convenient hub. The booths provided a one-stop platform for students to explore essential services, obtain information, meet people and discover opportunities tailored to their postgraduate journey, while also offering valuable chances to build connections with peers across different programmes and backgrounds.
