Navigating Library Resources for Postgraduate Success | Library Orientation for Postgraduate Students

On 17 October 2026, the Library and Graduate School of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong jointly organised an online Library Orientation for Postgraduate Students. The session introduced library resources and practical research tools to support students' academic studies and help them navigate their postgraduate journey with confidence.

Led by Mr Frankie TSANG, Learning Support Librarian, the session covered library collections, borrowing privileges, study facilities and access to electronic resources. Students learned to use OneSearch to locate books and journal articles, refine results with filters, and apply search techniques to identify relevant literature more efficiently. These practical tips provided a foundation for coursework and literature reviews.

The session also explored AI-powered research tools available through the Library for discovering and summarising academic literature, with an emphasis on verifying AI-generated outputs and using resources responsibly. Students were introduced to subject guides, information skills workshops and librarian consultations as sources of further support.

By familiarising students with library resources and support services, the orientation provided practical guidance for their ongoing learning and research. It also highlighted opportunities for postgraduate students to strengthen their academic skills and enrich their learning experience.
