HSUHK and Beihang University Summer School Concludes, Celebrating a Week of Academic Exchange and Cultural Discovery

The Summer School for Postgraduate Students 2025, co-organised by the School of Transdisciplinary Studies and the Graduate School of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK), together with Beihang University, successfully concluded after a week of intensive academic training, institutional visits, and cross-cultural exchange. Held from 9 to 14 July, the programme brought together 18 postgraduate students for a transformative learning experience focused on public administration, policy innovation, and cultural understanding in the dynamic context of Hong Kong.

The week-long programme offered a rich blend of theoretical insights and experiential learning. Students participated in a series of lectures and policy workshops led by esteemed academics and public policy experts.

In addition to academic discourse, participants visited a wide array of key institutions and cultural landmarks, including:

  • Mei Ho House – to understand the evolution of Hong Kong's public housing policy
  • Hong Kong Heritage Museum – featuring exhibitions on Hong Kong pop culture and Hong Kong comedy, complemented by a special lecture on the curatorial process behind recent exhibitions.
  • Legislative Council (LegCo) – guided visit exploring the functions of the Legislative Council, including its history, rules, and practices
  • Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) – to learn about the development of the ICAC and explore Hong Kong’s anti-corruption strategies through an in-depth discussion and exhibition tour
  • Victoria Peak – to enjoy panoramic views of the city and reflect on its urban transformation

Throughout the programme, students not only gained practical knowledge and policy insights, but also developed a deeper appreciation of Hong Kong's cultural richness and unique urban landscape.

The Summer School concluded with a graduation ceremony and farewell dinner, where students and faculty came together to celebrate a week of shared learning, cultural exchange, and meaningful dialogue. The Summer School exemplifies the spirit of transdisciplinary and international education, fostering global perspectives and civic responsibility among future leaders.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all speakers, organisers, and participating students for making this inaugural Summer School a resounding success.
