Introduction
The School of Transdisciplinary Studies of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK), in collaboration with Lingnan Institute of Further Education (LIFE), Lingnan University, launches the Professional Training for Interdisciplinary Studies Programme.
This course is specifically designed for students from the Mainland and other regions. It provides comprehensive interdisciplinary training to help participants master the key skills and knowledge needed to respond to global changes, thereby advancing their academic and career development.
The programme lasts for five to six months and covers fields such as business management, social sciences, digital economy, public policy, and globalisation studies. Through interdisciplinary coursework and English language enhancement programmes, it aims to comprehensively improve participants' academic and professional capabilities.

Programme Highlights
Pathway to Postgraduate Studies
The Programme offers a strong foundation studies for students aiming to pursue postgraduate studies programmes in Hong Kong and beyond.
English Language Proficiency Enhancement
Participants will engage in intensive English language enhancement courses to improve their academic writing, presentation, and professional communication skills, ensuring they are well-prepared for postgraduate studies in an English-speaking academic environment.
Interdisciplinary Curriculum
The curriculum covers management studies, social science research methods, globalisation, digital transformation, international education policy, and Chinese studies. This enables participants to gain in-depth understanding of various interdisciplinary issues and cultivate diverse knowledge perspectives.
Experiential Learning
Through interactive activities with scholars and industry experts, real case studies, and problem-oriented learning, participants will develop critical thinking, leadership, and analytical skills, allowing them to adapt to today's rapidly changing global industry environment.
Programme Objectives
- Equip students with a strong interdisciplinary/ transdisciplinary foundation to address the complexities of modern industries and global challenges;
- Develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and leadership skills essential for success in a globalised workforce;
- Enhance English proficiency and the ability to work across diverse academic and professional fields;
- Promote problem-based learning by engaging students in scholar-practitioner interactive learning activities;
- Facilitate the adaptation of non-local / international students to the higher education environment in Hong Kong and enrich their international learning experience through participation in various international research events and online webinars;
- Equip students with research method skills to prepare them for postgraduate-level academic and professional research.

- English Language Enhancement Course
Entry Requirements

Full-time undergraduate students in their final year of study; or
-
Hold a bachelor's degree from a recognized tertiary institution and be currently employed; and
-
Meet the English proficiency requirement by attaining a minimum score of 5.5 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS); or
-
Hold an equivalent qualification (other language proficiency evidence may be considered on a case-by-case basis).
# IELTS Exemption Policy -
Applicants who have completed an undergraduate degree from an English-medium institution outside Mainland China may be exempt from the IELTS requirement, subject to approval.
Medium of Instruction
- The course is conducted in English supplemented with Chinese. The assessment will be in English.
