Professor Mok Ka-Ho presents at Beijing Normal University and Beihang University

Professor Mok Ka-Ho, Provost and Vice President (Academic and Research) and Dean of Graduate School of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) was invited by Beijing Normal University to give a keynote speech at the International University Social Responsibility Submit 2024 successfully held from 21-23 October 2024 in Beijing.

Addressing the theme of educational transformation and sustainable development, Professor Mok presented a paper entitled "Nurturing caring professional with glocal vision: The Hong Kong experience" at the summit. He shared the Liberal + Professional education model adopted by The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong, highlighting how HSUHK has offered unique educational experiences to students. With strong conviction to enrich student learning, Professor Mok shared with the audience the recent reforms of the co-curriculum at HSUHK in promoting UN Sustainable Development Goals. Through providing students with service learning and wider engagement opportunities, HSUHK students are supported by rich educational resources to help them to "Learn to Care". The Summit attracted participants and presenters from the mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, USA, UK, Canada and Australia.

During his visit to Beijing, Professor Mok was also invited by the School of Humanities and Social Sciences of Beihang University to present at a roundtable discussion forum to share his recent published book entitled Globalizing China. Professor Mok presented a topic related to China's three-pronged approach managing the new geo-politics in international higher education. The paper was well received not only by participants joining the forum in person but also attended by over 200 participants online. Professor Mok's visit to Beihang University will lead to more collaboration between the Beihang School of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Graduate School of HSUHK for student exchange and faculty research collaboration. Both schools are exploring Double-Master degree and international summer school, which would benefit student learning across the two universities.
