Professor MOK Ka-ho, Provost and Vice President (Academic and Research), was invited by Tsinghua University to chair a keynote session at the Tsinghua Higher Education Forum, successfully held on 30-31 August 2024 in Beijing. The Tsinghua Forum attracted over 400 speakers and participants from different parts of the globe. Leading scholars researching artificial intelligence and higher education were invited to engage in critical reflections on how AI has affected higher education from international and comparative perspectives. Professor Mok chaired the first keynote session with speakers from Sorbonne University, France; Wuhan University of Technology, China; University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA; and Tsinghua University, China. Professor Mok was also invited to join the advisory committee of the Tsinghua Education Forum, advising on future conference arrangements.
Before joining the Tsinghua Higher Education Forum, Professor Mok gave a talk at the Roundtable on International Education: Critical Reflections, organized by the Institute of Higher Education, Beijing Institute of Technology, with four young scholars from Renmin University, Beijing Normal University, Beijing Institute of Technology, and Beijing University of Technology serving as commentators. During the visit to Beijing, Professor Mok explored inter-university collaboration with Tsinghua University, Beihang University, and Beijing University of Technology. The Institute of Education of Tsinghua University has agreed to co-organize the Conference of Higher Education Research (CHER 2025) with the Graduate School of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong in 2025. Meanwhile, the Institute of Higher Education of Beihang University will co-organize an international conference with the Graduate School of HSUHK in November 2024 in Beijing.
