Visa Application

In accordance with the regulations of the Immigration Department of HKSAR, non-local students who do not process the right of abode or right to land in Hong Kong must obtain a valid HKSAR student visa or entry permit in order to pursue studies in the HKSAR. All such applications must be submitted through  recognised Hong Kong institutions, which will act as the sponsorship institutions for their studies in Hong Kong. The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) will provide assistance to those admitted students in submitting their student visas or entry permits applications. Persons with visitor visas are not allowed to take up any study or training in Hong Kong.

Non-local applicants

Applicants who hold the following visa or permit issued by the Director of Immigration are defined as non-local applicants:

  1. Student visa or entry permit
  2. Visa under the Immigration Arrangement for Non-Local Graduates (IANG)
  3. Dependant visa or entry permit (students who were 18 years old or above when they were issued with such visa or entry permit by the Director of Immigration)

Visa Application

The Hong Kong Immigration Department normally takes around 6-8 working weeks (except weekends and public holidays in Hong Kong) to process the application upon receipt of all the required and completed documents. The processing time will be longer during the summer peak season. Students are strongly advised to submit visa applications, along with all required supporting documents, no later than 10 to 12 weeks prior to the programme commencement date. This is to ensure sufficient time for processing and to avoid delays in arrival and enrolment.

Applicants holding a conditional offer may proceed to apply for a student visa or entry permit before fulfilling all admission conditions. The University reserves the right to withdraw the sponsorship for the student visa or entry permit application should the applicant fail to meet the admission condition(s). The University also reserves the right to notify the Hong Kong Immigration Department accordingly.

Non-local students who are unable to present a valid visa at the time of registration will not be allowed to register.
