Gathering preeminent scholars in social policy from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, and various European nations, the conference served as a nexus for the exchange of cutting-edge ideas. Professor Mok's presentation focused on the innovative strides taken by the Hong Kong government in fostering community-based social care and health services for the elderly, underscoring the collaborative efforts spanning multiple sectors and stakeholders aimed at cultivating an age-friendly city conducive to productive aging.
Moreover, Professor Mok offered critical reflections on Hong Kong's welfare model, particularly in navigating tumultuous times with resilience and adaptability. His discourse was enriched by the contributions from distinguished scholars in Japan and Korea, alongside a perceptive commentator from Japan.
While in Guangzhou, Professor Mok engaged in fruitful dialogues with counterparts from Sun Yat Sen University, Nanjing University, and South China Normal University, laying the groundwork for future research endeavors and academic partnerships.
