The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) is proud to announce its membership in the Climate-U Network, becoming the sole institution from Greater China region to join this prestigious global initiative.
The Climate-U Network unites universities worldwide that are committed to collaboratively addressing the pressing climate crisis. Other members include institutions from Brazil, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, Morocco, South Africa, Uganda and UK.
Professor Simon Ho, President of HSUHK, stated, "HSUHK is truly honoured to join the Climate-U Network. This partnership extends our recent success in hosting the Alliance of Asian Liberal Arts Universities Annual Presidents' Forum, which focused on leadership in sustainability. It also reaffirms our commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, as evidenced by our recent signing of a joint statement together with over 180 universities worldwide. We are dedicated to enhancing climate action, promoting sustainability, and empowering our students to become proactive leaders in addressing the challenges of our time."
Professor Joshua Mok, Provost and Vice-President (Academic and Research) said that as part of the Climate-U Network, HSUHK will engage in collaborative research, share best practices, and participate in joint initiatives aimed at mitigating climate change. He added "This membership not only enhances our institution's environmental initiatives but also positions HSUHK as a vital player in the global sustainability movement."
