Designed for postgraduate students navigating both academic and professional settings, the session was highly interactive from the start. Participants broke down what makes an introduction effective, listened to sample pitches, and worked in pairs to refine their own content and delivery with real-time coaching.
Through timed practice rounds and peer feedback, students learned to distil their academic background, research expertise, and strengths into a clear sixty-second pitch. Many noted that the simple structure and repeated rehearsal helped them speak about their work more naturally — a takeaway they can apply immediately in scholarship interviews, networking conversations, and conference settings.
"The workshop was hands-on and practical, keeping us actively engaged throughout. The tutor was highly professional and even incorporated the latest AI tools into the curriculum — it felt very current and relevant to our real-world needs."

By the close of the workshop, participants left with more than a polished sixty-second pitch; they gained a clearer sense of how to present themselves with purpose and confidence in any professional setting. This workshop reflects the Graduate School’s ongoing commitment to nurturing postgraduate students who are not only rigorous researchers, but compelling communicators ready to thrive at every stage of their careers.
