HSUHK Welcomes the Inaugural Cohort of the Doctor of Decision Analytics Programme

The School of Decision Sciences (SDSC) at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) successfully hosted the inaugural Orientation Luncheon for the Doctor of Decision Analytics (DDA) Programme on 29 August 2026 at Rosewood Hong Kong, marking a significant milestone in the development of the University's first professional doctorate programme.

The event brought together members of the inaugural DDA cohort, President Joshua Mok, faculty members and distinguished guests to celebrate the official commencement of the students' doctoral journey. It also provided a valuable platform for students from diverse professional backgrounds to connect, exchange ideas and build meaningful relationships within the DDA community.

The School was honoured to welcome President Joshua Mok, who delivered a welcome remark to the inaugural cohort. In his remarks, Prof. Mok congratulated the students on embarking on this important academic journey and encouraged them to embrace lifelong learning, pursue excellence and create meaningful impact through data-informed decision-making. During the luncheon, he also engaged with students and learned more about their professional experiences, aspirations and motivations for pursuing doctoral studies.

Following the welcome remark, guests and students joined a celebratory toast ceremony to mark the official launch of the inaugural DDA cohort and the beginning of their doctoral journey. The ceremony symbolised a shared commitment to advancing decision analytics and fostering a vibrant learning community within the programme.

During the event, Professor Daniel Mo, Acting Dean of School of Decision Sciences, introduced the School's development, academic structure, and future vision, offering students a broader understanding of the School and its commitment to advancing education and research in decision sciences.

Professor Choy Siu Kai, Programme Director of the DDA Programme, shared the vision and aspirations of the programme and highlighted the growing importance of decision analytics in driving innovation and organizational success. Professor George Ho, Associate Programme Director, subsequently introduced the programme structure, distinctive features, and learning journey to help students prepare for their doctoral studies.

As HSUHK's first professional doctorate and Hong Kong's first doctoral programme dedicated to Decision Analytics, the DDA Programme is designed to bridge academic rigour and professional practice, cultivating senior professionals and industry leaders equipped with strategic thinking, innovation capabilities and data-driven decision-making expertise.

The School of Decision Sciences looks forward to supporting the inaugural cohort throughout their doctoral studies and witnessing their future contributions to industry and society through the advancement of decision analytics.
