HSUHK welcomes a record high of over 1,200 new postgraduate students from across the globe.
The Graduate School of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) successfully held the Orientation for new Postgraduate Students 2026 on 3 September, welcoming a record high of over 1,200 new students under the theme "Leading the Future, Beyond Imagination." Marking a vibrant start the new year, the cohort brings together includes postgraduate students from the Hong Kong SAR, Chinese Mainland, Australia, Canada, Singapore, the US, Pakistan, India, Russia, and other regions, reflecting HSUHK's growing appeal as an international learning community.
Welcoming Ceremony set an inspiring tone for the students' postgraduate journey. President Professor Joshua Mok Ka-ho encouraged students to embrace innovation and develop a global vision, while Professor FU Ho-ying, Jeanne, Vice-President (Learning and Student Experience), urged them to make full use of the diverse opportunities available both inside and outside the classroom. A talent performance by alumni and current students added energy and warmth to the occasion, showcasing the close-knit spirit of the HSUHK community.
University supports units introduced a wide range of resources orientation to assist students navigate academic life, research development and campus engagement. Professor Choy Siu-kai, Dean of the Graduate School, outlined postgraduate academic pathways and enrichment initiatives. Mr Michael Cheng Sai-fuk, University Librarian, and Mr Delon Wong Yat-cheung, Director of Information Technology, highlighted specialised research tools and digital learning facilities, while Dr Cheung Pui-sze, Director of Student Affairs, introduced wellness and co-curricular programmes designed to enrich students' university experience.
On the same day, the Graduate School held a Welcoming Fair and talks to help students settling in Hong Kong life. We have invited the Hong Kong Police Force, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (PCPD) and the Office of the Communications Authority (OFCA) and community partners to share important messages to the non-local students. Senior Inspector Vangary Li Jinpeng from the Hong Kong Police Force shared practical anti-scam tips, while Inspector Vincent Li Kam-ho from the Customs and Excise Department briefed students on controlled items and customs regulations, equipping new arrivals with timely knowledge for studying and living in Hong Kong. The Graduate School also introduced its "HIGH Programme", offering Cantonese language classes, academic workshops and cultural day trips to support students' academic, cultural and social integration.
Through a dynamic mix of ceremony, practical briefings and community engagement, the Orientation provided new postgraduate students with a lively platform to connect with peers, discover campus services and build the confidence to thrive at HSUHK.
