The ten-day "Millions Talent Development Initiative" successfully concluded on 22 October at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK), marked by the presentation of completion certificates and a warm farewell lunch. This cross-regional initiative, under the commission of the Department of Education of Guangdong Province and co-hosted by South China Normal University and HSUHK, provided nearly 60 distinguished primary and secondary school teacher from Guangdong with a platform for an in-depth exchange of educational ideas and practices.
From Macro Policies to Micro Practice
Participating teachers not only conducted field visits to local Hong Kong schools to systematically observe and learn about their daily operations and teaching management models but also attended series lectures by experts and scholars. Furthermore, the programme included thematic sharing sessions by several non-governmental organizations, significantly broadening the participants' perspectives and thinking.
In addition to school visits, the training included various specialized workshops and cultural exchange activities. A simulated parent-teacher communication workshop enhanced participants' practical communication skills with parents. Visits to the Hong Kong Museum of History and the Hong Kong Heritage Museum deepened their understanding of Hong Kong's history and culture, including a guided tour to Patriotic Education Centre focusing on the history related to the victory in the War of Resistance.
Diverse School Visits: Immersive Experience of Hong Kong's Educational Characteristics
Over the ten days, participants immersed themselves in the diversity of Hong Kong's education system through carefully designed itineraries.
The senior high school group visited Fanling Kau Yan College, learning about its implemented "Lesson Preparation and Reflection" strategies and small-class teaching model. At the Hong Kong Red Cross Hospital School, participants were deeply moved by the humanitarian care demonstrated in special education. The historical legacy and leadership cultivation system of Queen's College, the pioneering development of STEAM education at Ho Dao College (Sponsored by Sik Sik Yuen), and the discipline training and career planning guidance at Hong Kong Sea School all provided invaluable insights.

At the Hong Kong Baptist University Affiliated School Wong Kam Fai Secondary and Primary School, they experienced the internationalized features of a Direct Subsidy Scheme (DSS) school. The inclusive education at CCC Kwei Wah Shan College, the "future school" at Salesians Of Don Bosco Ng Siu Mui Secondary School, and the positive education at Christian Alliance SW Chan Memorial College offered rich practical references for the participants.
Innovative Workshops and Cultural Exchange: Broadening Educational Horizons
In addition to school visits, the training included various specialized workshops and cultural exchange activities. A simulated parent-teacher communication workshop enhanced participants' practical communication skills with parents. Visits to the Hong Kong Museum of History and the Hong Kong Heritage Museum deepened their understanding of Hong Kong's history and culture, including a guided tour to Patriotic Education Centre focusing on the history related to the victory in the War of Resistance.
Fruitful Outcomes: Co-building the Future of Education in the Greater Bay Area
Professor Joshua Mok Ka-ho, Provost and Vice-President (Academic and Research) of HSUHK, Dean of the Graduate School and the Director of School of Transdisciplinary Studies, noted that this training programme represents a vital component of Guangdong-Hong Kong educational collaboration. He emphasized the commitment to further deepen educational exchanges and establish long-term cooperative platforms between the two regions.
As educational integration in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area continues to advance, such cross-regional professional exchanges are expected to become increasingly frequent. As one participant reflected during the closing ceremony, "These ten days of learning have shown us that while the education systems of Guangdong and Hong Kong each have their distinct characteristics, our fundamental purpose in nurturing students is interconnected. We return to our respective posts enriched with valuable insights and are determined to contribute our part to enhancing the quality of basic education in the Great Bay Area (GBA)."
The successful conclusion of this training programme has not only injected fresh momentum into the professional development of class teachers in Guangdong but has also provided a replicable model of cooperation for the coordinated educational development of the GBA.
